The blog meme from Strawberry Singh this week is communication. This was pretty easy, even if I don’t spend a lot of time being a social communicator in SL. This actually amuses me given that my college major was communications, so I should be much better at it! For today I tried to find a pic that was somewhat relevant, but this is probably more representative of my SL than anything… Just watching….

1. Who did you speak to last inworld today?
I haven’t talked to anyone today. Honestly I can’t remember the last time I spoke to anyone in world… It must be a month or two ago. (I don’t count my hub, if we’re in world at the same time I never talk to him in SL, lol) although before this sounds too anti-social, I don’t log in SL every day so a big reason for the recent lack of communication is just that I’m not in world.

2. Who has taught you most about SL?
Really, it wasn’t anyone I met, I probably learned the most from Torley Linden’s tutorials. These days I still learn new things via other blogs, twitter, or forums.

3. Who do you turn to for help?
Google! Seriously, if I have any problems figuring something out, or if I’m looking for a product recommendation I usually try a search for it, either on Google or in the threads at SLU. That almost always gets me answers.

4. Who is the most entertaining person on your friend list? 
My husband! I love watching him buzz around in world and I wish he’d log in more. He has a knack for finding the quirkiest things =) One day he showed up with some kind of synchronized dance vehicle and led an ever increasing group of avatars on our dancing way through the Sim, which might just seem silly but for some reason after a few leaps of joy through the forest we were all dying laughing =D

5. Do you speak to your SL friends outside of SL?
Yes indeedy. I’ve actually met in RL all but one of those who are good friends in SL so we have contact info, but mostly keep up with each other on Facebook, or in email for those who don’t use FB. A couple of them have left SL so that’s the only way to keep up with them now.

6. Are you part of a community or family inworld?
Our home Sim is home to a Buddhist meditation community, so sort of part of that, and we are still estate managers there, even though we don’t really interact with people or attend events as much as we used to and mostly just tend to the landscaping and Sim maintenance as needed.

7. Are you usually around a lot of people or do you spend most of your time alone inworld?
Alone… And it’s not that I feel anti social, I keep telling myself that I will go to some event that I get notices for, but then I get absorbed in doing something on my own and forget. I really need to work on that.

As I was writing this out and thinking about who I talk with in world, I was realizing that most of my friend list is made up of my alts and my hub’s accounts. I keep thinking I should find ways to get out a little and expand this, or at least try to practice being a bit more chatty. I know of a few bloggers I follow who have stores and I’d like to check those out and maybe say hello, if I don’t chicken out. Could be fun!

And meanwhile, I see that June will be Avatar Blogger Month and I’m debating trying that because it sounds really fun and I’m still getting used to this blogging SL thing so it could be good exercise! Hesitant because I’m not sure if I can think of something interesting for a daily post. I can spam the dickens out of my Tumblr with daily posts, but not sure about this blog. I should be able to bring that same enthusiasm here right?

So there we are. Miss Singh says she has something really challenging planned for next week… I’m not sure if I should be excited or scared!
