No, really, I’m totally serious. It is the most wonderful time of the year. Autumn is the time to break out the hoodies and the pumpkin spice everything, enjoy the cooler temperatures, go on long hikes through the woods looking at the leaves, and linger for hours in craft stores browsing through the fall decorations and the Halloween crafts as I dream of filling my whole house with seasonal decor.
Okay, maybe that’s just me, I might get a little carried away. I just love this season. 😀 I haven’t been keeping up with the Strawberry Singh’s weekly blog meme lately because I just couldn’t think of anything to do for a couple of previous ones, but the Autumn Challenge is irresistible! Here are the instructions:
Meme Instructions: Take an autumn inspired picture and/or answer the following questions about autumn. Don’t forget to leave your links in the comments of (the original post) and if you take an autumn picture, please add it to the Blog Memes flickr group. Thank you! <3
1. Is autumn your favorite season? Why or why not?
It really is. I love everything about this time of year. I love the cooler days, I love the colors. Okay, I really, really, really loved the pumpkin spice muffin I had at lunch today. O.m.g.
2. Do you call it Autumn or Fall?
I use both, but I probably call it Fall most often if I’m talking and just mention the season, or ‘fall weather’, ‘fall colors’ etc. I’ve noticed if I’m writing something I usually use Autumn.
3. What kind of weather does your area get during this season?
I am in Ohio, so we get all the distinct seasons, at least with the colors changing in the trees towards the end of October. Fall temps vary a lot though, it’s going to be in the 80s all week so it still feels pretty summery. It will probably cool off when we get closer to November.
4. Which color do you always associate with autumn?
Orange!
5. Which Autumn themed sim is your favorite at the moment?
I have to admit I haven’t visited a lot yet, so I’m definitely going to be taking notes and checking out the sims that everybody else is mentioning.
I wasn’t sure where to go for fall color, but I browsed about a little and found that the seasons have changed at the Trace. The forest is full of warm colors, and there were poses and conversation spots scattered around that looked really cozy. I didn’t get a chance to explore much on foot because our internet connection is being a butt and I was having massive lag, so I just decided to cam my way around to do my sightseeing. I always like looking up at RL treetops, I had to see how that would work out for SL forests too.
My desire to wander through autumn forests and take as many pictures as possible isn’t limited to Second Life, as soon as our colors start to change here I’m going to be looking around through the parks and hoping for bright, pretty hues. Dry weather the past couple of years kept us from having a pretty autumn display, but I’m hoping we might have better luck this year. I’ll have my camera ready! And in the meantime, lag or no lag, I am going to take notes on other good autumn themed sims and start sightseeing SL as well, then when I find some good places I’ll grab the hub and have him tour with me. 😀
Autumn is also the season for haunted houses! I don’t enjoy them much in real life, but I love them in SL. In addition to haunted sims I’m on a mission to check out Halloween themed sims, and so I started off with the obvious: Halloween. It was a lot of fun to go through the haunted house and the Cave of Doom, and they also have a treasure hunt with prizes in ghosts found around the sim.
I didn’t get as far with pics as I’d have liked, due to unforeseen side effects. Oh sure, I look like a happy little explorer here, but this is just as I am thinking it will be tons of fun to sit really close to the monitor and go through the maze in mouselook. I have to say, it was an immersive experience… After a Dramamine I felt a lot better… o.O
Yep, Autumn makes me dizzy. 😉
